FAQ

  • Can I wash the products?
All products are hand wash only in gentle detergent and leave to dry naturally. Do not tumble dry.
  • What is a martingale dog collar?
Martingale collars are ideal for sighthounds, sighthound crosses and dogs with narrow heads and longer thicker necks. These dogs can often back out of traditional collars with ease. In recent years, their popularity has increased, and they are used more widely on many breeds due to the multitude of widths and designs available, increasing their broader appeal, functionality and versatility. The collar comprises of two loops, without any buckles. The large loop is designed to be slipped over the dog’s head easily and must be adjusted to fit snugly. The lead is attached to the D ring on the smaller loop, and when tension is applied the size of this loop reduces, causing the collar to tighten around the neck with gentle, even pressure. This helps control pulling against the lead, and to prevent the collar from slipping over the head. It is essential that martingale collars fitted correctly to function as intended. Note that these are not choke collars. Please note that martingale collars are designed to be used for walking only, not as house collars. Due to the tightening function of the collar, they can pose a choking threat if they get caught on anything immobile and tighten without release.
  • What size martingale collar should I order?
Our martingale collars are adjustable to fit the following neck circumferences. Extra Small 11 to 14 inches Small 13 to 16 inches Medium 15 to 18 inches Large 17 to 20 inches Extra Large 19 to 22 inches
  • How do I measure my dog for a martingale collar?
Please measure the circumference at two points on your dog’s neck 1. At the narrowest part at the top of the neck, directly behind the ears. 2. At the widest part of your dog’s head The size required must include both measurements, to ensure it can be slipped over the head comfortably onto the neck, and adjusted to fit snugly at the top of the neck to prevent backing out. For example, if the widest part of your dog's head measures 17 inches, and the narrowest part of the neck 15.5 inches, your dog would require a medium martingale collar.
  • How do I measure my dog for a house/buckle collar?
Please measure the circumference of your dog's neck where a collar would comfortably rest. The collar should fit loosely and comfortably.
